Well, this drawing looks really much better live, I'm finally enough satisfied with a work of mine.. :)
Just have to write that have a "large" range of pencils really helps, I finally bought a set of pencils from 3H to 9B, and used cotton disks for shading..

A very "life-like" drawing, the amount of details is really great. I manage to improve myself at drawing especially in shades but I'm far from it.
A technical question: when you blend the shade, do you respect the direction of the drawing?

Yes I usually follow the direction of the drawing, but not too closely, I can say I follow the direction, but with small circular movements.. It is a very delicate and long process, I start from lightest pencil, smooth it, and repeat the process until I get good shading, then I use a darker tone, and repeat the previous steps..

THANK YOU!!!! You made me understand my mistake, something that tend to destroy my shading. Different "slices" of shading from light to dark. It seems obvious now. Now, I have to start a new drawing to test this. Thanks again for this detailed explaination.

When I first saw this picture I thought "it's alright, can definitely tell it's Natalie Portman because of the cheekbones and eyes." Then when I looked closer and saw all the detail it looked so beautiful. I love the way you have drawn her skin, it even looks like skin, so smooth!
However, from comparing this one to the picture to drew to avoid giving misleading criticism, her right - our left- jaw is not low enough. Or maybe not lower, but something is not quite right with her jaw and chin area. It seems as though everything is too far to the right, our right not hers.
Sorry that's a bit general, and if you already knew what I was talking about.

First of all, let me thank you for writing this, I really appreciate this kind of critics.. About the proportions, I just overlaid the two pictures, and it's all right, maybe not 100% obviously, but.. I think I just need to darken some areas, and here looks much more bright than it really is, due to scanner adjustments.. Anyway, thank you for everything!!

Yeah, I don't like scanners because the picture never looks as good as it does in real life. Anyway, it's alright.
